ESR on Media and blaming the Audience

Just found Eric Raymond's piece on the media blaming the audience. Now, this is obviously the kind of piece where everyone agrees, but nobody agrees on the particulars. Still, I have to admit I mostly agree with Eric. Being a foreigner, I don't have much of an opinion on the two US parties, and what I have I don't feel qualified enough to post here, but the remaining observation rings true.
