We were pandemic first!

On TV yesterday evening I heard that they found a dead bird in Mannheim who had the new bird flu. Didn't make it more comfortable that I'd just returned from Mannheim that evening.

Tim is even closer to the events (German), and barely outside the cordoned-off area.

And it's like it was when acclaimed German poet Hilde Domin died (who practically lived up the street): You hear it first via the internet from someone who currently is in Prague, who read it on a Swiss newspaper's website...
