Review: The Incredible Hulk (Vol. 1)

If you buy only one Hulk, get this one!

This tape contains the pilot movie to the TV show, and a second two-parter.

The pilot movie alone is worth the cost of this DVD. Bixby shows all facets of his ability, and convincingly makes it clear what causes Banner to stumble from one dangerous situation into the next. Not to mention the dramatic circumstances of his wife's death, and the truth about who really killed Elaina Marks.

"A death in the family" isn't as strong as the pilot, but nonetheless worth watching. The episode is a little reminiscent of "of guilt, models and murder", but much more care has been taken in its realization. Sadly, the intrigues and plots are of the same formulaic kind.

Diese Kassette enthält den Pilotfilm zur Serie, und einen weiteren Zweiteiler.

Allein für den Pilotfilm lohnt es sich. Bixby zeigt hier alle Facetten seines könnens, und man versteht klar und deutlich, was Banner bewegt, von einem Unglück ins nächste zu geraten. Ganz abgesehen von den dramatischen Begebenheiten um seine Frau, und die Wahrheit darüber, wer Elaina Marks wirklich umgebracht hat!

"A death in the family" ist zwar nicht so stark wie der Pilot, aber dennoch sehenswert. Die Folge erinnert ein wenig an "of guilt, models and murder", ist aber sorgfältiger verwirklicht, wenn auch genauso formelhaft in den Intrigen.
